Overview:
The Leave No Trace Awareness Workshop is a 1 – 6 hour introduction to Leave No Trace Outdoor Skills and Ethics. Participants can expect to develop an understanding of transferable LNT skills applicable to traveling and living in a backcountry environment, or minimizing impact in an urban environment. These program offerings are perfect for Scout leaders with scouts in need of merit badge requirements, or classroom educators that are looking for an experiential education program that offers a standards-based curriculum to teach lessons surrounding science, history, and language arts.
Student learning outcomes:
At the end of a LNT Awareness Workshop students should be able to:
- Recite the LNT principles utilized in the workshop
- Discuss the “how” and “why” of LNT
- Apply the 7 LNT Principles in other environments
Example instructional sessions (1 – 6 hours including both class and field instruction) :
- (7) Principles of Leave No Trace
- What is your wildland ethic?
- Outdoor skills and practices to minimize your impact
- Transference of Leave No Trace beyond the field

Building on our Leave No Trace Awareness Workshop, students can expect to develop an sound understanding of transferable LNT skills, related to traveling and living in a backcountry environment. Perfect for camp counselors, scout leaders, conservation leaders, forest service personnel, or even classroom educators that are looking to develop sound backcountry skills and ethics that they pass along to those that they serve.

- Recite the (7) LNT principles utilized in the workshop
- Discuss the “how” and “why” of each Leave No Trace principle
- The history of The Center of Leave No Trace Outdoor Skills and Ethics
- Apply the 7 LNT Principles in other environments
